Young oak seedlings growing in individual containers in an indoor propagation setup

01 / In practice

Projects

Personal projects in plant propagation,
native trees, and indoor growing.

01 / Seed propagation

Oak propagation research

Acorns to young trees · Personal project

Research-grade oak propagation with systematic monitoring of seedling development and growing conditions. Recorded leaf counts, node counts, plant height, water pH, and other cultivation variables to document growth over time.

02 / Grafting

Loblolly pine grafting

Dwarf scions on standard rootstock · Spring 2026

Trained by horticulturist Nick Romano to graft dwarf loblolly pine scions onto standard loblolly rootstock. My work includes preparing graft material and monitoring the graft unions as they establish.

03 / Native tree propagation

Redbud seed collection

Cercis canadensis · 2025–2026

Collecting and preparing redbud seeds as part of my Native Tree Beautification Project, with work spanning propagation, site management, and long-term growth monitoring.

The broader project includes thousands of redbud seeds and approximately 50 dogwood cuttings on personal property.

04 / Indoor horticulture

The strawberry “Berry Box”

Modular growing system · 2022–Jan. 2026

Designing a compact, cost-conscious indoor strawberry system for homes and apartments, with the goal of making year-round harvests more accessible.
